Dr. Connie K. Chung, EdD (she/her) works at the intersection of practice, policy, and research, supporting organizations to develop the next generation of young leaders to live well together and to build more caring, just, and sustainable communities.
She recently served as a Design Strategy Fellow at Foster America. She assisted a county’s Human Services Agency in designing and implementing a youth-centered, integrated system of supports for foster youth to improve education, health and employment outcomes. She co-designed life skills workshops with youth and community partners and co-developed youth leadership structures. The work called on her experiences as a systems thinker, organization and relationship builder, and change enabler, as well as a former foster parent and former educator. She was delighted to use her research, program, and policy skills in a public service role to promote equity and efficiency and to help our most vulnerable and resilient youth thrive.
She has consulted with school districts in the United States and with the OECD in their project to prepare education systems for the future. Her BA (English and American Literature), EdM (Teaching & Curriculum, 1999 & International Education Policy, 2007), and doctorate (Communities, Cultures, and Education, 2013) are from Harvard University. Her dissertation examined a community organizing group’s practices that supported people from across lines of race, class, and faith to work together to address shared community and civic challenges.
